Alcohol yes or no?

Yes! On a daily basis? NO!

People often ask me, Simone, why are you not drinking? So, let me address this for you in my first and last blog post about alcohol. I certainly do enjoy a good glass of wine or champagne, with the emphasis on good. I’m the kind of person who prefers one good glass over an entire bottle of mediocre wine. Besides that, my healthy lifestyle doesn’t match with consuming alcohol on a daily basis. Does that make me a boring person? Haha, I don’t think so, but there will always those who see it differently. It’s all a matter of perspective so, please enjoy your nice glass of chardonnay or well brewed craft beer.  After all, life is to be lived however,  let me  also enjoy my sparkling water with a slice of lemon or ginger (which makes it a bit more sexy).

I get up to workout around 7 am each morning, sometimes an hour earlier, sometimes an hour later. I just can’t do that after a night of drinking because I need to get a good night of sleep.

My lifestyle is not only about eating clean and working out, it’s about getting enough rest, drinking a lot of water and living life. In these summer months especially, this involves bbq’s, wine, gin & tonics and other summery drinks. My solution is to get a glass, ask for ice, sparkling water and a slice of lemon or some mint. It looks like I’m consuming alcohol?

That being said, if you’re serving my all time favourite Chardonnay from Bernardus Winery, California, then I’ll take more than one glass right now. Two years ago I visited their winery, which itself was a little dissapointing since the tasting room is situated on the roadside instead of the lovely fields of NAPA/SONOMA. However, their Chardonnay is delicious as so many wines are from this area.  And, while I’m talking about California wines, let me share my favorite red: Petit Syrah from Jeff Runquist. It’s not easy to find, but all I can say is…….YES PLEASE!

Now you know what to bring, to make me happy and to make me drink…
